During the Christmas period a lot of fund raising is normally organised not only by the main political parties but also by various other entities so it is rather difficult for the voluntary non-government organisations to expect some income during this hectic period. However, in these last years the Down Syndrome Association had been favoured by two young ladies, Jessica Curmi and Stephanie Xuereb, past students of Mary Runza, who together with their carol singing group visit various locations and collect money by their beautiful carol singing. During the short period, December 2006, they managed to collect a record sum of just over Lm1,000!
The Down Syndrome Association wishes to thank:
Kevin Attard, food and beverages manager of the Cavallieri Hotel, who together with his mother, not only organised raffles towards collecting more money but also provided the raffle prizes from their own souvenir shop.
The management of the Plaza Shopping Centre who not only cooperated and provided space but also provided sandwiches and drinks for the children during their stay.
The Embassy Complex, the Marina Hotel, Casa Antonia. Playmobil Funpark, HSBC plc and Wembley Motors who provided transport.
Last but not least, the Down Syndrome Association would like to thank all the students and their parents, the adult students, the volunteer children who joined Jessica and Stephanie for singing and also the general public who kindly gave their donations for such a worthy cause.
The association is very grateful to these young ladies.
