Archbishop Paul Cremona yesterday urged people to be strong and resist changes that made them feel uncomfortable.
There was a culture impossible to stop that was clashing with Christ's message, he said.
Mgr Cremona was speaking at the Balluta parish church in the first meeting he is conducting with 16 parish church units.
The unit he visited yesterday includes the Jesus of Nazareth parish in Sliema that Mgr Cremona led before becoming Archbishop. The other parishes in unit 10 are Sacro Cuor, St Gregory and Stella Maris.
He joked that although he did not organise yesterday's meeting, he would surely have landed in trouble had his first visit not taken in Sliema.
He said parishes needed to work together so that they would be left with more time to pass on God's message to the residents.
As has become the norm with the new Archbishop, he was greeted enthusiastically by parishioners and responded with equal warmth.
