As chair of the committee on Training and Education (CTE) of the European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS), Professor Stephen De Smedt welcomed the appointment of Professor Lilian M. Azzopardi, of the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Malta, to the EUFEPS CTE.

The appointment of Professor Azzopardi was made on the recommendation of Professor Gert Laekeman, president of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP).

Professor Azzopardi has actively participated in several ESCP functions and is the society's newsletter co-ordinator. She is expected to be introduced to the committee at the next meeting in Amsterdam in April, at the start of the Pharmaceutical Science World Conference (PSWC).

Professor Azzopardi, who is known in the international arena for her contribution to the development of the teaching of pharmacy practice, is expected to contribute significantly to the evolvement of pharmacy education and training in Europe.
