Last Sunday, the day dedicated to the sanctity of life, Bishop Mario Grech, in the presence of Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono, inaugurated the All 4 Life centre in Capuchins Street, Victoria.

The centre aims to raise awareness about pro-life issues. The mission statement of the centre reflected in the name All 4 Life is "that we may all grow in awareness and love for the value and dignity of life from conception, and come to promote and defend this value."

The defence of life is not a prerogative of the few but it is the duty of all Christians to love and defend life from conception.

Pope John Paul II, in his encyclical Evangelium Vitae, makes this exhortation: "To all the members of the Church, the people of life and for life, I make this most urgent appeal, that together we may offer this world of ours new signs of hope, and work to ensure that justice and solidarity will increase, and that a new culture of human life will be affirmed, for the building of an authentic civilisation of truth and love."

The Guzeppa Debono Home of Ghajnsielem has offered support to unmarried mothers for the last 22 years. It was opened by Bishop Nicholas J. Cauchi on December 8, 1985. Its mission statement is: "With love, commitment and professional care we accompany the unmarried mother and her child in their endeavour to attain a dignified life."

From this primary aim arises another equally important aim - to promote the value of life from conception. Therefore, while the work with the mothers will continue to be carried out at the Guzeppa Debono Home, all pro-life activities will be carried out from the All 4 Life centre. Among the many activities, one of the most important is the promotion of prayer for life.

The centre will be open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m.'
