Historical interpreters will perform a musketry drill and fire a naval cannon as part of an educational activity to be held by Heritage Malta at the Malta Martime Museum in Vittoriosa on February 25.

Visitors to the museum will learn about the life of the Maltese sailor under the Order of St John and in the Royal Navy during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Historical interpreters will depict various roles including sailors, gunners and soldiers on the gallery battalions as well as give information about the weapons and the fighting techniques used and daily life on board.

Heritage Malta's Keeper of Models at the museum, Joe Abela, will explain model ship making and restoration.

The event will last from 2 to 4.30 p.m. Two guided tours will take place at 2 and at 3.30 p.m.

Admission will be at half price for adults while persons under the age of 16 will enter free of charge.

This activity will be repeated on March 25.
