A party was recently organised by the HSBC Cares for Children Fund (HCCF) for 100 children who have been granted refugee or temporary humanitarian status and are residing at the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Balzan. The centre, which gives shelter to about 165 asylum seekers with children, is run by the Emigrants' Commission on behalf of the Church.

The commission has a total of 14 houses in seven different localities and gives shelter to 365 persons. Children from other houses joined those living at Balzan for the party.
