Call to cut emissions

Friends of the Earth (Malta) has called on world leaders to take urgent action to cut emissions of greenhouse gases following the recent warning on the threat of global climate change issued by experts.

FoE said that in Malta, the greenhouse gases emissions have been on the rise from year to year and although this small nation's contribution might be considered insignificant when compared to that of other nations, it does not mean that the Maltese should not be concerned with climate change.

In fact, Malta could potentially serve as an example of good practice when it comes to finding solutions and using technologies which could rid the island of its oil dependency. This would not only be of benefit to the environment but also to Malta's economy in the long term, the FoE said.
