Two Neptunes WPSC swimmers got off to a bright start on Saturday as they set new age-group records during the first time-trials of 2007.

The event was held at the National Pool, Tal-Qroqq, which was back in operation after three months of refurbishing work.

Talisa Pace has long been in the news after consistently lowering the freestyle records in the shorter distances. This time the 14-year-old girl again set new marks in the 50 and 100 metres 'C' category.

Pace clocked 29.40 seconds in the shorter race, reducing by 0.02 seconds the former record held since July 2005 by Melinda Sue Micallef.

Then Pace went on to clip six-tenths of a second off her own mark registered in Germany last December when she covered the 100 metres in one minute 3.26 seconds.

The other record, this time in Group 'B', came courtesy of Andrea M. Agius whose one minute 21.74 seconds bettered the previous time of Daniel Galea, established in July of last year, by two hundredths of a second.

The second time-trial of this year is scheduled for February 23 and 24.
