The sixth meeting of the season, held yesterday at the Marsa racetrack, included eight trotting races on the 2,140m distance.

Much of the attention of the horse racing enthusiasts was focused on the three races from the Gold Division with Peter Agius emerging as the meeting's top driver with two wins.

The top race on the card was the Gold 1 event. It produced an exciting finale which saw eight trotters fighting for victory in the straight for home.

In the end it was Demilo Action, driven by Eric Bezzina, that crossed the post first ahead of Quick Cap and Whiz Kid which finished second and third respectively.

There were various trotters in the lead at one time or another in the Gold 3 race.

Midway through the final straight Global Dragon, in its second race in Malta, looked set for victory but was overtaken at the post by Illico De Reville, under the control of Agius.

Ilio Mannetot finished in third place.

The honours in the Gold 5 race went to Charles Camilleri's Tiger Trot who won with a strong surge in the final 150 metres.

Second place here went to Icare De Gemma.

Klondike, under the direction of Agius and in its second outing at the Marsa racetrack, cruised to an easy four length win in the Silver 2 event.

The next meeting at the Marsa racetrack is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
