Dr Alan Deidun, lecturer in Biology, is currently involved in ongoing research embarked on six years ago on the macrofaunal assemblages of central Mediterranean sandy beaches.

This relates to aspects of the impact of human disturbance on such assemblages, their characterisation, any seasonal variations in taxonomic composition, habitat and feeding preferences of such assemblages, on the possible influence on such assemblages of beach length and recruitment intensity, and on the possible compartmentalisation of such assemblages.
