The Hyundai Atos has claimed the top spot among the lower compact cars in the new car quality survey by J.D Power. The Atos topped the subcompact segment, outscoring prestigious Japanese and European brands.

In the brand evaluation, Hyundai Motor Company ranked sixth, scoring 190 points. The J.D Power conducted this survey on 9,600 consumers who bought new cars from April to December in South Africa.

The survey was composed of 228 questions about ride, performance, convenience, design and so on.

"Hyundai's global quality management is bearing fruits, as evidenced in the surveys where the Sonata ranked third among the mid-size cars in the US new car quality survey last June," the company said in a statement.
