The Vocalise Chamber Choir will present Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzer and Henze's The Moralities at the Manoel Theatre on Saturday at 7.30 p.m.
The choir will feature soloists, pianists Caroline Calleja and Juliette Lopez, percussionists Daniel Cauchi, Emanuel Busuttil and Noel Micallef and narrators Angelica Galea and Jean Pierre Agius under the direction of Hans Jurgen Nagel. The Love Waltzes, consisting of 18 musical settings of texts by Georg Friederich Daumer, speak of courtly love in various moods.
The Moralities is a youth cantata based on Aesop's fables. Henze uses two pianos, percussion and contemporary harmonies and idioms to portray these three stories.
The concert forms part of an EU Youth Initiative project called Youths Make Music, and has been made possible with the kind sponsorship of Vodafone and BOV.
