Topical ethical problems encountered by Mgr Charles G. Vella throughout his years at the Scientific Institute University San Raffaele, in Milan, are addressed in a 218-page book the founder of the Cana Movement has just published.

Mgr Vella described the book as consisting of "bedside ethics" because it is centred around the sick as "a person". Among the topics tackled are the humanisation of the hospital, the problems of euthanasia, AIDS, cancer and intensive care.

Mgr Vella, a Cavaliere of the Italian Republic, presented a copy of the book to the Italian Ambassador to Malta, Paola Andrea Trabalza. Copies have also been presented to the Apostolic Nuncio, to Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona, to Gozo Bishop Mgr Mario Grech, to Archbishop Emeritus Mgr Joseph Mercieca and to Bishop Mgr Anetto Depasquale.

Later this month it will be presented at an event in Rome and then also at the Circolo della Stampa in Milan. It will eventually also be presented in Malta.

This is the sixth book in Italian published by Mgr Vella.
