Gozo Ministry denies roadworks claim

The Gozo Ministry said yesterday that a company had been entrusted with most of the roadworks in Gozo only because it had submitted the cheapest offers.

The ministry was reacting to claims by the Labour Party that the friends of Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono were benefiting from the road works in Gozo as 42 contracts out of 50 were won by the same company.

The ministry said the MLP had conveniently forgotten that the minister had published the list of the tenders issued by the same ministry, including all the offers submitted for every road, a decision that showed transparency in the way the ministry operated.
