There were 92 new cases in the juvenile court during last year, with some people being arraigned more than once during the year, Justice Minister Tonio Borg told Adrian Vassallo (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question.

He said that in Malta there had been four cases of swearing and obscene language in public; nine cases of slight injury and three of serious injuries; two cases of arson and three of wilful damage; eight cases of injurious behaviour and seven cases of smoking in prohibited places.

He said 20 were arraigned for driving without a licence and there were 12 cases of theft and two of drug possession.

There were 12 incidents of violations of public order and two of indecency as well as seven cases of prostitution and a case of rape. In Gozo there was a case of driving without a licence, one of hunting without a licence, four cases of breach of public order and a case of theft. There was also a case of misuse of telecommunications apparatus.
