Twenty Armed Forces of Malta soldiers have successfully completed their training leading to combat medics certification.

They were presented with certificates and qualification badges during a ceremony held at Luqa Barracks, presided over by AFM Commander Brigadier Carmel Vassallo.

The training started last November and was conducted by the Special Rescue Office within the Italian Red Cross headquarters.

The second phase, completed this year, included refresher training, examinations and a week's hands-on experience at St Luke's Hospital's casualty and ambulance departments under the supervision of AFM medical officers.

Also present during the ceremony were Italian Ambassador Paolo Andrea Trabalza, Colonel Giovanni Ormetti, Commanding Officer, Italian Military Mission and Lino Cutajar, president of the Malta Red Cross.
