The Italo-Maltese Executive Programme for Cultural Co-operation provides for the award of a per diem allowance and the refund of travel expenses to promote the exchange each year of up to ten Italian and University of Malta academic members of staff or researchers to deliver lectures, address seminars, conduct research and discuss academic co-operation.

The duration of the visits should normally be for not less than 10 days and not longer than 14 days, although visits of a shorter duration may be considered in exceptional cases.

The visits may take place any time from June until the end of the year. Visits for lecturing purposes cannot take place during academic vacation periods.

Members of the academic staff of the University and Junior College who wish to visit an Italian university or state-funded educational institution, or who wish to invite an Italian counterpart from such institutions to visit the Junior College or University could send their application to the director of the International Office by not later than Friday, February 16.
