Gasan Enterprises Ltd, local agents for Mazda in Malta, were honoured last weekend at a Mazda Motors UK 'long service award' ceremony, held at the prestigious Bovey Castle in Devon.
The 'Zoom-Zoom' car dealer, in Mriehel, marked 34 years' service in 2007 and celebrated alongside over 30 Mazda dealers at the exclusive weekend event.
"We became the Mazda importer for Malta in 1973 and we've seen the brand evolve and grow strongly over the years," David Gasan, managing director, said. "Since 2001 the entire model range has been refreshed and there has been significant sales growth since 2003."
The Mazda dealers attended a celebratory award ceremony and gala dinner, collected their awards from Rob Lindley, Mazda Motors UK managing director, and witnessed a spectacular fireworks display.
"Each of the dealers we recognised at the award ceremony is particularly special to Mazda Motors UK," Mr Lindley said. "Each dealer's loyalty, enthusiasm and 'Zoom-Zoom' spirit has driven the company to become Britain's favourite sports car brand and one of the most successful car manufacturers in the UK."
Gasan Enterprises Ltd sold 126 new Mazdas in 2006, an increase of 30% over 2005, building on a strong year in 2005. Across the UK, Mazda delivered 50,166 new vehicles to customers last year - a 7.2% rise over 2005, despite the general automotive market falling by almost 4%. In Malta the industry figures for 2006 over 2005 remained static.
Malta's motorists have plenty to look forward to in 2007, with the Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupé next month and the all-new Mazda2 reaching our shores in the Summer.
