The Valletta Alive Foundation congratulates all those who were involved in the Notte Magica of January 6: the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, NnG Productions, the local council, various people, and all the shops and catering outlets which remained open during the event.
VAF believes that an activity which it organised last summer, the BOV Streets Alive, was instrumental in making people aware that Valletta has much to offer in the evenings. The event spanned four consecutive Fridays and with each Friday, the number of shops which remained open increased consistently. BOV Streets Alive therefore was a contributing factor in the subsequent success of Notte Bianca last October 14, and Notte Magica.
BOV Streets Alive was part of a process which has made evenings in Valletta today very different from what they were just six months ago.
The funds spent on such events, most of which are generated by sponsorships, are an investment in Valletta and the retail and catering businesses which operate within it. These funds are therefore an investment in your business.
The Foundation intends to organise BOV Streets Alive again over six consecutive Fridays next summer. Apart from culture and music, there will be a focus on leisure shopping. The experience of the past six months demonstrates that leisure shopping is complementary to other leisure activities and should therefore become an integral part of evening leisure activities in Valletta.
In the meantime, I renew my appeal to businesses and individuals to become members of VAF. For a small membership fee, you will be giving your tangible support to the Foundation and to its initiatives in favour of Valletta.
