Some drama teachers 'without a warrant'

The Malta Union of Teachers has complained that people who have not been trained for teaching and who do not possess a teaching warrant are being allowed to give lessons in drama.

In a letter to the Director General of Education to express its preoccupation, the MUT said that these people appear to enjoy the support of the authorities.

The MUT said it was right to invite persons to occasionally lecture on various subjects as long as students are not given formal lessons. This should only be done by regular qualified teachers who are in possession of a warrant issued by the competent authorities according to the Education Act.
