As reported in The Times (January 27) it is not the first time prison authorities have found drugs in food and clothing that visitors have taken to the inmates.
It seems that a solution to this problem keeps escaping the prison authorities. Is it possible they do not realise that prohibiting visitors from bringing food or other material to the inmates would go a long way towards solving this problem?
The government provides the inmates with good food and other necessities and there is no reason to have outside providers. Everyone knows that allowing visitors to bring food and other material into the prison provides a clear temptation to abuse. So why not plug this loophole?
