The annual awards ceremony of the Table Tennis Academy was held recently.

Prizes were distributed to academy members who excelled in various categories during 2006, including the most dedicated player, best improved player and star of the future.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Sports Experience special award.

William Camilleri claimed the prize in recognition of his dedication, improved technical play, disciplined behaviour and all-round co-operation with his fellow players and coaching staff.

The Academy strives to recognise and promote improvement and dedication among its players. This is the main objective of the annual awards ceremony.

The new year has started on a positive note for the Academy with a rise in the number of members and a corresponding increase in coaching sessions.

More details on the Academy's calendar of events for 2007 can be viewed on www.tabletennisacademy.com.

This season, apart from the regular coaching lessons, the Academy, based at the Civil Service Sports Club in Valletta, will be holding five ranking tournaments as a build-up to the National Championships.
