The Committee of the Gozo Philatelic Society has expressed its doubts about Maltapost's decision to ban postage stamps from use on postal parcels.

Besides uncertainties regarding the legality of unilaterally restricting the declared usability of stamps already bought, there is the obvious danger of Maltese stamps becoming less popular through limited visibility, the society argued.

Stamp collectors liked to use an assortment on their postal items, especially when sending them to each other.

The society called for this choice to remain possible, as happens in many countries which have introduced labels.
