Beware faulty night lamps

The Consumer and Competition Division (CCD), responsible for the enforcement of the Product Safety Act in Malta, said in a statement last week that it has received various reports of fire incidents in houses allegedly caused by Hengsheng, Dim Night Lighting, Model HS-309 night lamps.

These night lamps, which are sold mainly through the open air market stalls, do not conform with the requirements of the Low Voltage Electrical Equipment Regulations, 2002. More importantly, however, these night lamps pose serious risk of electrocution.

The CCD warns all consumers who bought this product to stop using them immediately. The CCD is taking steps to ensure that the product is withdrawn from the market.
