Sebastian Monesterolo yesterday put the finishing touches on his move to Kuwait Sporting Club after signing a six-month deal with the Kuwaiti champions.

Sources close to the deal told The Times that Monesterolo's contract is worth close to €75,000 (Lm31,700).

The Argentine's departure from Valletta had been on the cards after it emerged that the latter had finalised discussions with Kuwait SC over the compensation fee for Monesterolo's transfer.

The 23-year-old Monesterolo, a favourite with the Valletta faithful thanks to his scoring prowess, had a contract until the end of this season with the Citizens.

Monesterolo's registration documents had to be rushed through in order for him to be eligible to play for his new club in the Asian Champions League.

Sources also revealed that Ibrahim Babatunde, Msida's Nigerian striker, is also attracting the interest of Kuwait SC.

Contacted yesterday, Antoine Portelli, the Msida president, said he was unaware of any foreign interest in Babatunde.

Meanwhile, Msida have reportedly been approached by two Premier League clubs who have an interest in signing defender Josef Mifsud.
