Stefan Sultana will be involved in his 500th match in Maltese football if he plays a part in tomorrow's Division One League game between Hamrun Spartans and Senglea Athletic.

Sultana will become the second Maltese player to reach the 500-match mark after Kris Laferla achieved that milestone on October 17, 2004.

The veteran striker has only played for two Maltese clubs in his career - Hamrun Spartans and Hibs. With the Spartans, Sultana has played a total of 420 matches so far, scoring 214 goals. Sultana also made 79 appearances during his short spell with Hibs for whom he scored 27 goals.

Sultana, capped 33 times by Malta, was only 16 when he made his top-flight debut for Hamrun in a match against Marsa on April 28, 1985. He scored his first goal on April 25, 1987 in an FA Trophy match against Valletta. Sultana is the Premier League's all-time leading scorer with 187 goals.
