Alex Ferguson has made it clear that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be leaving Manchester United, no matter how much Real Madrid or any other club are prepared to fork out for the Portuguese winger.
Reports in Spain suggest the nine-times European champions are preparing a massive £35 million offer for the 21-year-old.
Earlier this week, Ferguson's assistant Carlos Queiroz suggested United were set to open contract negotiations with Ronaldo, even though his present deal does not expire before 2010.
"We sell players we want to sell and there is absolutely no way Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving," Ferguson said. "The boy has done fantastically well. He is developing as a professional, as a person and as a player. He is happy here."
Mancini keen on Chelsea job
Inter coach Roberto Mancini has not dismissed the possibility of managing in the Premiership one day and has described the Chelsea job as "fantastic".
Mancini, whose team are on course to win the Serie A title this year, has yet to sign a new deal with the Italian club and has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge should Jose Mourinho leave.
"I'd really love to manage a Premiership side one day. Chelsea? It would be fantastic," Mancini was quoted as saying by The Sun.
"Nothing has been decided about the (Inter) contract but it is not a formality."
Pearce offered England U-21 job
Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce has been contacted over the vacant post as coach of England's Under-21 team.
Pearce has admitted to having a brief conversation with the English FA over the possibility of succeeding Peter Taylor.
The 44-year-old is keen to take on the part-time role, which would run through to the end of the summer's European Championship in Holland. But Manchester City feel Pearce should concentrate on his club duties.
Pearce believes he can handle the workload.
"If an offer came I would look at it," he said. "Any time your country approaches you about anything it is a proud moment.
"The bottom line is I wouldn't do anything that is detrimental to the job I do at City, but I believe anyone working with the under-21s would have to gain a benefit."
Capello softens Beckham stance
Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has softened his stance over excluding David Beckham from his plans saying that the former England captain could feature in the team if he is fully fit and shows the right attitude.
Beckham has been left out of the squad for Real's match at Villarreal today, but Capello pointed out that a knee problem meant he had not been considered for selection.
Capello was asked if he had made a mistake when he said that Beckham would never play for Real again following the midfielder's announcement that he would be signing for MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of the season.
"People can make mistakes," he replied. "But these are decisions made by the whole coaching team. When I see that he is in good shape and has a good attitude then he can form part of the team, but he has to show it."
Juve target Pato eyes Italy move
Juventus target Alexandre Pato has revealed his desire to move to Europe. The Brazilian talent has drawn comparisons with Milan's stalwart Kaka and has impressed Juve talent scout Pasquale Sensibile, who is currently in Paraguay watching the U-20 South American Championship.
The 17-year-old is valued at £10.7 million and reports suggest that Milan have already had a £7m offer rejected.
"I am ready to join an important club in Europe," said the striker who won the 2006 FIFA World Club Championship with Internacional. "I want to become the new Ronaldo or Ronaldinho."
According to Tuttosport, Serie A leaders Inter are also monitoring the player and may make a bid in the near future.
But Juventus could be in pole position due to the fact that his agent is Gilmar Veloz who has a good relationship with the Turin club. Veloz also represents former Juve midfielder Emerson, now at Real Madrid.
Sicilian derby rescheduled
The Serie A match between Catania and Palermo has been brought forward to Friday, February 2.
The Sicilian derby was scheduled to be played on Sunday, Feb. 4, but Catania's police commissioner Michele Capomacchia requested that the match be moved because the game clashed with the city's celebration of Saint Agatha, Catania's patron saint.
The festival usually sees over 100,000 people gather in the streets and the derby at the Stadio Massimino is considered a high-risk event by police.
The city's mayor had also highlighted that it would have been inconceivable to host both events on the same day.
The Lega Calcio have decided, along with the local authorities, to switch the clash to next Friday at 3 p.m.
Davids agrees deal with Ajax
Tottenham Hotspur's Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids has agreed an 18-month contract with Ajax Amsterdam, according to his lawyer Robert Geerlings.
However, Geerlings also told the weekly Voetbal International magazine the clubs still had to work out the details of the transfer before the window closes on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Davids began his career at Ajax in 1991 and helped them win three league titles from 1994-96 plus the UEFA Cup in 1992 and the Champions League in 1995.
