Red Bull rolled out their new RB3 Formula One car (picture) without fanfare yesterday in a launch that was more about substance on the racetrack than style off it.
"We expect a podium here and there, and number five in the constructors' championship," Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz told the official F1 website.
Top designer Adrian Newey, who joined from McLaren last year after designing championship-winning cars for that team and for Williams, said the RB3 was a clear departure from Red Bull's previous offerings.
The car is powered by Renault, champions for the last two years whose engines also won titles in Newey-designed cars in the 1990s, rather than last year's Ferrari V8. The line-up has changed from last year with Australian Mark Webber joining from Williams alongside British veteran David Coulthard who starts his 14th season.
