Malta Information Technology and Training Services Ltd (Mitts) said it was awaiting the conclusion of police investigations into a suspected leak of confidential information to assess what action it should take further to its suspension of an employee last week.
Mitts, the government's in-house ICT agency, had suspended a project manager until further notice in view of police investigations relating to possible irregularities in the procurement process of an integrated health information system.
It said that should the police investigations find that irregularities have occurred at Mitts Ltd, it would take the relevant action, including measures to minimise the possibility of such irregularities reoccurring.
The police some days ago raided Inso's offices in Malta, used by a part-time external consultant, retrieving computers and documents in connection with the investigation.
Inso, which has a minority interest in AME, a consortium tendering for the system, said in a letter last week that it had suspended the individual from all dealings and relations with it pending investigations.
As a result of the investigations, the tender evaluation process for the procurement of the integrated health information system has been suspended.
