According to a report in The Times we will soon have a seaplane service between the two islands. What a good idea!

One fails to understand, however, why this service will operate between the Grand Harbour and outside Mgarr, Gozo, with a bus shuttle service connecting MIA to the Grand Harbour.

Since this plane could land and take off from land or water, it would be more feasible to offer the service from the airport. Surely landing at the Grand Harbour would cause disruption to shipping while another consideration is that in the peak of summer all three ferries run a continuous shuttle service from Mgarr Harbour. Let us not have another case of counting chickens before they are hatched!

All that said, it would offer a welcome alternative to both tourists and locals alike. Hopefully, it might be possible that in time local pilots would be trained to fly such a plane.
