Mifsud scores first goal for Coventry in 3-2 defeat

Michael Mifsud came off the bench to score his first goal for his new club Coventry City in last night's 3-2 defeat at Plymouth in The Championship.

The Malta striker was not included in Coventry's starting formation by caretaker coach Adrian Heath. But the 25-year-old soon made his presence felt after replacing striker Jay Tabb after 61 minutes, with Coventry trailing the hosts 3-1.

The clocked marked 70 minutes when Mifsud picked up a poor clearance from the Plymouth defence and fired a rasping volley that gave goalkeeper Luke McCormick no chance.

Mifsud's goal sparked a Coventry late rally but they could not find an equalising goal to remain 16th in the standings with 34 points.
