Cruise passenger traffic increased by 27.4 per cent last year over 2005, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

The NSO said that cruise passenger traffic in December alone amounted to 5,279, bringing the total for the year to 408,046.

The number of passenger departures last year increased by 26.4 per cent. Embarkations from Malta went up by 4,611 persons.

Passenger landings increased by 70.7 per cent.

The number of cruise liners calling in Malta last year was 356, up by 29 over 2005 .
