Malta-Syracuse Links
A new website providing information about an EU-funded programme called Voyages and Voir, which forms part of the Interreg IIIA Italia-Malta programme, has just been launched in Syracuse with the aim of reinforcing the cultural identity of the two islands.
An international seminar was held last year in Palazzolo Acreide, where a number of Maltese and Italian experts presented papers on the subject. Two exhibitions were inaugurated in both Syracuse and Palazzolo Acreide.
During the launch of the website, the president of the province of Syracuse, Bruno Marziano, spoke about the close links between Malta and Syracuse and how attempts were being made to improve the links.
Activities that will be held in Malta this year include an exhibition at the Maritime Museum, in Vittoriosa, as from June, the holding of an international seminar and the publication of a book.
The website can be accessed through www.grandtoursiciliamalta.net.
