One of the values which the Gospel portrays is generosity. Through his saving coming God infused in those who are opened to his love the everlasting gift of generosity.

For instance, the Magi's response to his love was eloquent. "They offered him gifts" (Matt 2, 11). These wise men offered Jesus their love, respect and affection.

God has given us numerous gifts. What are we doing with them? Are we employing them to foster the common good in our families, religious communities and society? Are we not responsible for the well-being of one another?

Every action we choose in our lives has its consequences. Which consequences are comforting to us? Those that emanate from a "doing our own thing" attitude or those that are derived from a disinterested love?

Lord, help me to offer myself as a gift of love to you and to others. Amen.
