Floriana are poised to strengthen their squad with the acquisition of a new foreign player.
The Premier League club said in a statement that Serbian striker Bojan Spasojevic, 27, yesterday reported for his first training session with Floriana's first-team squad.
Spasojevic, who was on the books of Serbian Premier League club Vozdovac, is expected to be offered a contract until the end of the season. The left-footed striker will be Floriana's third foreign player this season, joining Brazilian forward Wendell Gomes and Congo defender Riad-Mynel Gango-Rtsa.
Floriana have been searching for a new foreign player after they decided to terminate the contract of Brazilian defensive midfielder Sullivan Da Silva.
Signed in November as a replacement for Nigerian Anthony EviParker, Da Silva's chances of proving himself at Floriana were hampered by a shoulder injury he suffered in the 4-0 league win over Pietà Hotspurs on December 2.
Spasojevic is expected to make his Floriana debut in Saturday's league match against Birkirkara.
