The F.O.I. is widening its participation under the Joint Harmonised EU Programme of Business and Consumer Surveys. Last month, the federation was awarded a contract from the EU Commission to start carrying out the Services Survey on a monthly basis as from next May.
The Services Survey will complement the Industry Survey - carried out since May 2004 - as an excellent tool for keeping abreast with economic and business trends across industrial and services sectors.
The Services Survey will be covering an array of service providers ranging from hotels and restaurants, transport, real estate activities, to education, health and social work, and other business and service related activities.
The survey consists of a number of questions that will be sent on a monthly basis to a selected sample of Maltese firms. Respondents will express monthly assessments and short-term expectations on their major firm variables, such as demand (turnover), employment, prices and the general business situation.
The FOI guarantees that all data collected will be treated confidentially. The FOI business survey team will collaborate with PricewaterhouseCoopers who have a reputation in the development of qualitative business survey systems and processes.
The FOI team will be responsible for the statistical processing of the data, most of which will be collected through the Internet, and the dissemination of results.
Individuals and enterprises interested in acquiring further information on the FOI Business Surveys are encouraged to contact FOI executive Kevin Caruana by e-mail: kevin.caruana@foi.org.mt.
