I would like to publicly praise the work carried out at St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta over the last few years. This jewel of our architectural heritage has not only begun to take on its original look but has also, rightly, been cleaned and made more beautiful.

The marble of the monuments as well as the church pillars, and the restoration of the Cotoner coat of arms on them, has been cleaned. The restoration of the paving as well as the windows and the roof of the cathedral has also progressed.

Naturally, I should not exclude the undertaking of such large projects as the restoration of the chapel of Italy, of the organ in the oratory as well as the lighting in the cathedral.

All this work and more was carried out through the efforts of Dr Claude Busuttil, executive secretary of the foundation responsible for the co-cathedral.

It is a pity that Dr Busutill will be vacating his post, considering that all that has been done and all that is planned would not have been possible without his hard work.
