Maltese tour operators are taking part in a workshop with Tunisian tour operators to discuss new areas of cooperation between Malta and Tunisia, including the targeting of niche markets.
The tour operators are accompanying Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech who is on an official visit to Tunis as a guest of his Tunisian counterpart Tidjani Haddad.
The minister on Thursday inaugurated a culture month at the Medina organised by the Embassy of Malta in Tunisia, entitled Malta Hanina, which includes an art exhibition at the Palais Kherreidine.
The exhibition includes works by Maltese artists, Maltese traditions, arts and crafts and maritime history. Maltese traditional music will be performed in the streets of the Medina and at the Club Tahar Haddad.
Maltese food will be served.
University professors and Maltese and Tunisians of Maltese origin living in Tunis will trace the island's contribution to Tunisian history in a series of seminars.
