Dual circulation consists of a brief period during which time Maltese liri notes and coins will circulate alongside the euro. This period will commence upon the designated day i.e. January 1, 2008 and will last till January 31, 2008. Throughout this time payments for goods and services can be carried out in Maltese lira. However change will be handed over in euro.
