Kentucky Derby champion Barbaro has suffered a significant setback in his battle to recover from a life-threatening injury, doctors said yesterday. Barbaro became visibly uncomfortable on his left hind foot on Tuesday and doctors who removed the colt's foot cast found new separation of the inside portion of the hoof.

The colt won the Kentucky Derby by the largest margin in 60 years last May but broke down in the Preakness Stakes with a shattered leg.
