A construction company yesterday filed a judicial letter saying it intended to develop its land, situated near Le Meridien Hotel, in St Julians, once it had a full development permit in hand.

BBR Construction Limited filed the letter in reaction to a judicial protest filed by the hotel owners, Bajja Developments Limited, on Tuesday.

Bajja filed the protest, against the health authorities, claiming they were misguiding the Malta Environment and Planning Authority when they approved applications concerning the neighbouring site.

The company claimed that the plans proposed in the applications did not conform to health and safety requirements. Yet, the authorities had approved the plans. This was illegal and was misguiding Mepa.

BBR denied these allegations adding that it had a full development permit to excavate and build apartments on sites number seven and eight situated on St Julians Ramp.

The company added it seemed that the hotel owners expected no one in the area to develop their property just because this may have an impact on the views from some of the hotel rooms.

BBR concluded by holding Bajja responsible for any damages suffered by obstacles it may put in its path.

Lawyer Edward DeBono signed the letter.
