Gozo Bishop Mgr Mario Grech has encouraged priests and lay people to actively seek out families instead of waiting for them to come forward for help.

"I would like to witness stronger pastoral action in favour of the family in our diocese. I appreciate that priests normally give enlightened advice, but I encourage you to present yourselves to them first," he said in a message for the New Year.

During the exchange of seasonal greetings on Saturday, Mgr Grech said that even Gozo was feeling the need for a dialogue between reason and faith.
