Angelo Vassallo wrote "the recognised trade union at Lufthansa Technik is the Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM)" (The Sunday Times, December 31).

He should have written that "the recognised trade unions at Lufthansa Technik are the Association of Airline Engineers (AAE) and the Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM)". The AAE was recognised by Lufthansa Technik (Malta) long before the UHM was, and was involved in the setting up of the company, a project which its members contributed wholeheartedly to.

Likewise, the AAE will continue to support the company's enlargement and the creation of new jobs in this sector.
