Zongo, Fenech banned one match, to miss top-of-the-table clash
Haber seals move to Marsaxlokk
Msida St Joseph will be without two key players for tomorrow's top-of-the-table clash against Marsaxlokk after midfieders Ousseni Zongo and Paul Fenech received a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner yesterday.
Zongo and Fenech were both red-carded early in the second half of last week's Premier League match against Valletta.
Despite playing with nine men for most of the second half, Msida St Joseph held out for a 1-1 draw with the Citizens. The suspension of Zongo and Fenech is a blow for the Saints' aspirations to reduce the six-point gap on the Premier League leaders.
Floriana will be without Julian Briffa for Sunday's match against Marsa at the Hibs Ground. The defender picked up his fourth booking of the season in the 1-0 defeat to Marsaxlokk and was handed a one-match ban. Domenic Mifsud was the other player disciplined yesterday. The young Pietà Hotspurs midfielder also collected his fourth booking in the 0-0 draw against St George's and is therefore ruled out of his team's match against Hibs tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Marsaxlokk are expected to parade their latest acquisition in tomorrow's match against Msida after they concluded transfer negotiations with goalkeeper Justin Haber.
The Malta goalkeeper, who was on the books of Royal Virton, has opted to return to Maltese football after failing to hold down a regular place with the Belgian second division side.
The 25-year-old Haber, who played for French club US Quevilly last season, has signed a five-month contract with the southerners. He was due to report for his first training session with Marsaxlokk yesterday.
