A staggering Lm824,600 were spent by the 76,000-odd people who visited Valletta during the first edition of Notte Bianca last October, Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said yesterday citing a post-evaluation exercise conducted by the Research and Business Planning Unit of the Malta Tourism Authority.
Dr Zammit Dimech was speaking during the presentation of a sponsorship cheque by Sally Robson, HSBC's chief operating officer, in connection with Saturday's Notte Magica in Valletta.
Ms Robson said that during January, shoppers spending Lm10 or more and using their HSBC Quikcash or HSBC credit cards will take part in the Grand Cardmania competition.
At the end of January, 10 customers will be automatically selected to take part in the final where they will be able to compete against each other to win a Samsung 40" LCD TV complete with a wireless surround system. The second-placed customer will win a Samsung side-by-side fridge while the customer placing third will win a Samsung 32" LCD TV. Fourth and fifth placed customers will each receive a Samsung EGO camcorder. The remaining five customers will win a Samsung SGH x650 mobile phone each.
