Samuel Bartolo retained the Christmas Cup for a second consecutive year. The tournament, organised by the Valletta Subbuteo Club, saw Bartolo beating Charles Aquilina in the final 3-2 on shots.
Aquilina went in for the break leading 1-0 but Bartolo hit back after the restart to make it one-all. He could also have scored the winning goal in normal time.
Balance prevailed and shots were needed to determine a winner.
With this victory, Bartolo has now won the cup three times to equal the tally of Mark Gauci and Joe Borg Bonaci.
In the semi-final, Bartolo gained a 2-0 win over Joe Borg Bonaci while Charles Aquilina had the better of Derek Conti 3-2 on shots.
This year, Bartolo will play for Greek club Atlas Glyfads FTC. At present, he is occupying the 103rd position in the world rankings with 174 points.
