NSTS opens café-bar outside university

NSTS held a day of events to inaugurate its Rafiki's café-bar, a hangout intended for students, lecturers and other university staff situated just outside the university gates.

There was a lunchtime reception and a student party in the evening.

NSTS is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to promote international exchange for students and youths.

In his opening address, managing director Francis Stivala charted the organisation's evolution through the multitude of projects and services developed for the benefit of students and youths over more than five decades.

The inauguration was characterised by eye-catching fruit and vegetable carvings based on traditional Thai art and prepared by Robert Emmi, a lecturer at the Istituto Professionale Statale Per I Servizi Alberghieri E Della Ristorazione Di Nicolosi.

This is one of the more prestigious colleges of hospitality in Sicily, with a population of some 1,200 students. It sends its trainees to practise their English at the NSTS English Language Institute and acquire experience through work placements at a number of local hotels and catering establishments.
