I am impressed by the number of double negatives Joe Borg used in his last letter. Such gems as him declaring that he is "against" cyclists "protecting themselves by not putting on crash helmets". I didn't think they were that dangerous after all.
It seems that the internet is a fine educational tool. Spending years in a casualty ward counts for less than "surfing to the appropriate places on the internet". I must have been visiting the wrong places on the 'net not to have picked up a medical education that way...
In answer to Mr Borg's point, I would like to point out that forcing cyclists to pay insurance and road taxes is ludicrous in the extreme. For Malta to legislate against cycling would be a fine example of our nation's ability to create crazy laws and enact them with gay abandon. I hardly believe any other country in Europe does this, though I'm sure Mr Borg will scurry to "the appropriate places on the internet" and find out.
At least Mr Borg's correspondence never ceases to entertain. I would like to encourage him to keep writing, if only for the pleasure it gives me to read his letters. I would love to hear him enlighten us about his concept of a bike-driven fall in car sales.
