Obituary

DeBONO. On December 27, MAURICE, aged 76, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Miriam, née Fenech, his children Edward and his wife Claire, Martin and his wife Dorothy, David and his wife Johanna, his adored grandchildren Jonathan, Rebecca, Daniel, Maria and Nicky, his brothers, sisters and in-laws Josephine and Alex Gollcher, Mark and Linda DeBono, Albert and Anne DeBono, Paul and Margaret DeBono, Mary and Luigino Genuardi, Frederick and Maryrose Fenech and Marlene Fenech, nephews and nieces, cousins, relatives and numerous friends.
The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, today at 1.45 p.m. for St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.15 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.
Lord grant him eternal rest.

GRECH. On December 28, at Pax et Bonum Home, Mosta, LUDGARDA, née Debono, aged 93, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joseph, widower of Philippa, Miriam and her husband Philip Galea, Helen, widow of her son Pio, Evelyn and her husband Rokku Caruana, Ines, widow of her son Philip, grandchildren, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 7.15 a.m. for Zebbug parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 7.45 a.m. followed by interment in the family vault at Sacred Heart cemetery, Zebbug. No flowers by request but donations to St Clare Monastery, St Julians, and Dar tal-Providenza, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

A prayer meeting will be held at St Francis church, in Rabat, on Sunday at 10.30 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at midnight.

Ombudsman's office

The Office of the Ombudsman will be closed on Tuesday.

Esperanto competition winners

On the occasion of Zamenhof Day, the Malta Esperanto Society held a cultural evening at the British Legion, in Valletta, on December 15 when prizes were distributed to the winners of an essay competition about Esperanto.

Claudia Bezzina placed first followed by Stephanie Santucci and Carolanne Casha, second and third respectively.

Consolation prizes were given to Sarah Buhagiar, from Kan. Paolo Pullicino School, in Rabat, Roxanne Caruana, from Margaret Mortimer School, in Sta Lucija, and Norma Magro, from the Sacred Heart Foundation, in St Julians.

Party for bank employees' children

Over 500 children of Bank of Valletta employees packed the Grandmasters' Suite at the Hilton Malta for their annual Christmas party.

The Young Talent Team staged a varied programme of dance, music and games. The team also included junior artist Sophie who earlier on in December took part in the Junior Eurovision finals in Bucharest. Singer Fabrizio Faniello also made a surprise appearance. He interpreted some of his most popular numbers including I Do.

Following the show, Father Christmas arrived and distributed gifts to all those present.
