A woman has been charged with stealing cheques and making use of them over the past four months.

Alexia Cross, 27, of St Paul's Bay pleaded not guilty to stealing two cheques to the detriment of Mark Cassar and Hilary Francis Attard, defrauding them of over Lm1,000, forging Mr Attard's signature onto a cheque and tampering with the document.

She was also charged with stealing jewellery from Antonio Abela.

Magistrate Joseph Cassar granted Ms Cross bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Police Inspector Kevin Borg prosecuted.

Lawyers Roberto Montalto and Joseph Giglio were defence counsel.
